Art Basel announces Exhibitors and First Highlights for its 2025 Show in Hong Kong

Art Basel Hong Kong returns in March 2025 with a powerful line-up of 242 renowned galleries from 42 countries and territories, affirming its role as Asia’s premier platform for contemporary art. This year’s edition promises an inspiring mix of first-time collaborations, local partnerships, and engaging programs that connect deeply with Hong Kong’s vibrant culture and international audiences.

The diverse representation of exhibitors reflects Art Basel’s dedication to showcasing a wide range of artistic expressions while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Asia-Pacific region. Over half of the participating galleries are from this region, emphasizing the fair’s commitment to elevating local talent and shining a spotlight on diverse artistic voices.

This year’s show welcomes 23 new galleries from countries including India, South Africa, and the Greater China region, marking an exciting expansion of its international presence. Art Basel continues to nurture vital connections with local institutions, most notably through its collaboration with Para Site, a prominent Hong Kong art organization. For the first time, Para Site will curate Art Basel’s Film Program, providing an innovative platform for showcasing contemporary film in dialogue with the visual arts.

“The impressive line-up of galleries participating in our 2025 Hong Kong edition reinforces the fair’s position as a cultural crossroads and vital anchor in Asia’s ever-growing art scenes.”

Angelle Siyang-Le, Director Art Basel Hong Kong

“The impressive line-up of galleries participating in our 2025 Hong Kong edition reinforces the fair’s position as a cultural crossroads and vital anchor in Asia’s ever-growing art scenes. We’re committed to continuing to strengthen our ties with the regional art scene and its rising stars – our collaboration with the leading local nonprofit organization Para Site for the public Film Program is a historic first, while the MGM Discoveries Art Prize will honour its inaugural winner during the show next year. According to the recently released Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting 2024, HNWI in Mainland China reported the highest spend on art and antiques in 2023 and the first half of 2024, more than double any other region, which suggests that the strong return to purchasing post-lockdown has been sustained and further bolsters our positive outlook for the coming March” says Angelle Siyang-Le, Director of Art Basel Hong Kong. This sentiment encapsulates the fair’s aim to foster connections within the art community and beyond, making it a pivotal event in the global art calendar.

Highlights of this year’s fair include the “Galleries” sector, which will bring together established and mid-sized galleries from influential art regions such as Japan, Korea, and Australia. Visitors can anticipate curated projects in the “Insights” section, spotlighting innovative perspectives from the Asia-Pacific area, while the “Discoveries” sector will showcase emerging galleries and solo projects, providing a platform for fresh voices and ideas.

In addition to the main exhibition, Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 will introduce the MGM Discoveries Art Prize, designed to support emerging artists. This initiative will offer a shared prize between the winning artist and their gallery, along with an opportunity for the artist to exhibit their work in Macau, further enriching the cultural landscape of the region.

For a captivating immersive experience, the M+ Facade will feature Night Charades by Ho Tzu Nyen, a reimagined tribute to Hong Kong’s cinematic history, creatively edited through AI technology. With a wealth of exhibitions and cultural events unfolding across the city, Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 promises to deliver an unparalleled celebration of contemporary creativity, fostering an environment of cultural exchange and artistic exploration.
