Art Basel announces 2024 Miami Beach exhibitors and first highlights under new director Bridget Finn

Led for the first time by director Bridget Finn, Art Basel’s premier fair in the Americas will feature 283 galleries from 34 countries, including 32 first-time participants, marking the largest group of newcomers since 2008. Art Basel Miami Beach will take place from December 6-8, 2024 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

This year’s edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, spearheaded by new director Bridget Finn, promises a revitalized program that caters to both new and returning audiences. With 283 world-class galleries from 34 countries and territories, the fair will showcase the best of their programs. Notably, nearly two-thirds of exhibitors hail from the Americas, reflecting Art Basel’s commitment to diverse artistic voices from the region. The 2024 edition, taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 6-8, with VIP Preview Days on December 4 and 5, will be supported by UBS, Art Basel’s Global Lead Partner.

Reflecting its unique position at the creative intersection of North and South America, Art Basel Miami Beach will feature historical rediscoveries and bold contemporary works from leading galleries in the Americas and premier international exhibitors. This year, exhibitors from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, and Uruguay will join the fair for the first time. Additionally, newcomers from the United States include galleries from Florida, New York, California, Illinois, Texas, and Oregon, alongside several galleries from Canada. European participation will see new galleries from Spain, Portugal, France, Poland, and a first-time representation from Romania. Asia’s presence is strengthened with galleries from China, Singapore, South Korea, and Indonesia making their debut at the Miami Beach show.

A notable change in the 2024 edition is the introduction of a new entry-level booth option, aimed at supporting small and mid-size galleries entering the main sector. This initiative, combined with the fair’s sliding scale pricing system, ensures a more accessible and equitable participation for galleries of all sizes. Twenty-five galleries will enter the main sector, Galleries, for the first time this year, highlighting the success of these inclusive measures. Additionally, five galleries have chosen to share a booth, a model introduced in 2019 to promote collaboration and inclusivity.

“We have an exceptional roster of galleries participating in our Miami Beach show this year, coming from all corners of the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The proposals in Nova, Positions, and Survey are of exceptional quality and ambition, and it’s clear that galleries in the main sector will not be holding back come December, bringing their best of the best to this all-important fair in the world’s leading art market.”

Bridget Finn, Director of Art Basel Miami Beach

Bridget Finn, Director of Art Basel Miami Beach, said: ‘We have an exceptional roster of galleries participating in our Miami Beach show this year, coming from all corners of the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The proposals in Nova, Positions, and Survey are of exceptional quality and ambition, and it’s clear that galleries in the main sector will not be holding back come December, bringing their best of the best to this all-important fair in the world’s leading art market. It was incredibly important that we carve out a more equitable path to participation for small and mid-sized galleries entering the main sector of this show, and the proof is in the extraordinary number of newcomers joining this edition. We remain super agile and attuned to the changing and individual needs of our galleries and their artists, and committed to creating an absolutely cannot-miss experience for them and for collectors, museums and foundations, major cultural partners, and visitors from Miami Beach and around the world.’

Meridians, the sector for projects that transcend traditional art fair booths, will be curated by Yasmil Raymond, an independent curator and outgoing Director of Portikus and Rector of the Hochschule für Bildende Künste-Städelschule. Further details on Meridians, as well as Kabinett, the sector for tightly curated presentations within the main booth, will be announced in the fall. The Conversations program, known for its engaging discussions, will be curated this year by American writer, editor, and educator Kimberly Bradley, with programming details to be revealed in the coming months.

Art Basel Miami Beach will take place from December 6-8, 2024 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
