Strategic Development of SPRING BASEL: Two Event Formats for a Broader Audience

MCH Group is further developing SPRING BASEL, aligning it more precisely with visitor expectations. As part of its strategic focus on core areas, MCH Group is increasingly relying on partnerships to establish innovative formats sustainably. This transformation follows the same approach, creating a platform that appeals to a broad audience.

As part of this realignment, the event will be divided into two clearly defined formats, each catering to specific target groups and their interests. From April 3 to 5, 2025, the first SPRING MUSIC SESSION will take place, a music event with a strong regional identity. With a diverse program featuring live performances, interactive music activities, and a wide range of musical experiences, it will provide a dynamic meeting space for music enthusiasts while fostering cultural exchange within the Basel region.

Complementing this event, BASEL ACTIVITY will launch in autumn 2025, with a special focus on families and all generations. The event will feature interactive and experience-driven formats that encourage participation, discovery, and the creation of unforgettable moments together. Whether through sports activities, creative workshops, or playful experiential worlds, BASEL ACTIVITY will offer a varied program for visitors of all ages.

“While trade fairs once primarily served as platforms for product presentations, today, networking, interactive formats, and community-driven experiences are at the forefront.”

Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions & Events

The decision to introduce this new structure is based on the observation that the previous format of SPRING BASEL had yet to establish itself as envisioned. “While trade fairs once primarily served as platforms for product presentations, today, networking, interactive formats, and community-driven experiences are at the forefront,” explains Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions & Events at MCH Group.

A key element of this transformation is the partnership with the management teams of Sandoase and Bambusnest, two well-established event organizers with extensive expertise in immersive event experiences. This collaboration enables the development of innovative event concepts, ensuring their successful market positioning and long-term appeal for attendees.

Both events will be hosted at MesseQuartier Basel, a venue equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and designed to accommodate music, cultural, and leisure events. As MesseQuartier Basel continues to evolve into a year-round event hub, it is increasingly utilized not only for trade fairs and conferences but also for a broad spectrum of cultural and entertainment formats. By strategically repositioning SPRING BASEL, MCH Group is further strengthening this venue and integrating it more closely with the city of Basel and its surrounding region.

With this strategic development, MCH Group ensures that SPRING BASEL remains a leading platform for connection, entertainment, and interactive experiences while continuing to grow.
