This spring, Basel will be one event richer. The first edition of SPRING BASEL will present a varied range of culinary delights, entertainment, and culture for young and old and is a convivial meeting place for the whole region. The festival seeks to create carefree and entertaining moments with friends, family, old acquaintances and new acquaintances. “People love to come together, exchange ideas and be entertained. We are delighted to be able to offer Basel a new meeting place with SPRING,” says Festival Director Nadia Bachorski. “In the spirit of MCH Group’s roots, steeped in tradition, we felt it was important to organise a public event in Basel again, alongside leading major trade fairs such as Swissbau, HOLZ and Igeho” says Roman Imgrüth, CEO MCH Exhibitions & Events. “The first SPRING BASEL will focus on entertainment and culture. In the next few years, we plan to expand the format with further elements, together with our stakeholders and partners”,
Delicious food in a convivial atmosphere
Whether local, international, vegetarian or experimental – the culinary offerings at SPRING have something for every palate. Gourmets and wine aficionados will also find a selection of fine wines as well as a diverse range of innovative thirst quenchers and craft brewed beer to discover and taste. A small but fine marketplace invites visitors to browse through a selection of accessories and various everyday products.
A stage for Basel’s urban culture and music scene
The festival celebrates the creative potential of the region and gives partners from Basel’s cultural and music scene a platform. The audience gets to enjoy acts from different genres ranging from folk and rock to hip-hop and electronica on a live stage. This year, bands and artists from the event series “Mitten in der Woche”, the talent agency “trust the process”, the music festival BScene, and from the circle of Basel’s electro and house greats Thom Nagy and Nik Frankenberg will present themselves.
For those who want to learn how to use a spray can and pen, the festival also features live urban art demonstrations and free urban art workshops with the Basel Urban Art Association. Carnival-goers can reminisce and try out the special lantern painting technique themselves while admiring a selection of this year’s lanterns. At the “Talk Bar”, presenter Katja Reichenstein will lead exciting discussions with local personalities on social, cultural and local political topics. Various entertainment offers for children round off the multi-faceted festival.
